Ambulance crew taken to hospital after crash

Two crew members on board a Cayman Islands Health Services Authority ambulance had to be taken to hospital following a collision Tuesday evening.

According to reports from the the scene, the ambulance and another vehicle collided near the George Town cricket pitch near Smith Road and Bobby Thompson Way.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.

A patient was in the back of the ambulance involved in the wreck. Another ambulance responded to the scene to treat both the patient and the injured medics. Several off duty medics also responded to the crash scene to assist.

None of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening.
