Red Sail move into new East End home
New equipment also on island

Water sports company Red Sail Sports has upgraded to a new home at its site at Morritt’s resort in the District of East End in Grand Cayman.

“The new shop has coincided with our seasonal or annual upgrade of equipment; it’s all looking very smart out there,” Rod McDowall said. “Prior to (Hurricane) Ivan we had a lovely set-up in one of the Morritt’s buildings on the beach, but that was all taken out. We moved into a temporary container, which we refitted to get it up and done quickly to service guests. Unfortunately that turned into a semi-permanent container which lasted us for five years.”

That container did not provide as much space as the customer or the staff would have liked, he said.

“It’s lovely to have 450 square feet so we can serve the guests.”

New gear

New windsurfing equipment plus five new waverunners are also at the site. The previously-used waverunners have been sold locally, said Mr. McDowall, who added that this kind of equipment is generally replaced by Red Sail roughly every 18 months.

“We use the waverunners for the half hour rentals and the one and a half hour safari/snorkel combo which is very popular,” he said.
