Supporting education, training and workplace development forms an integral part of the Chamber’s annual activities. 

The Chamber of Commerce works diligently to support its members and the wider community. That support comes in many forms from providing promotional and marketing opportunities for businesses, promoting inward investment, supporting local commerce and international trade and partnering with business and community groups and associations to introduce workplace initiatives that improve the quality of life for all residents.
 
Supporting education, training and workplace development forms an integral part of the Chamber’s annual activities. Each year the Chamber recognises outstanding academic achievements in public and private schools at award ceremonies. The Professional Development and Training Centre provides cost effective and practical workshops to assist employees and their managers to improve their skills and increase productivity. The Career, Education, Training and Job Expo enables businesses, associations and schools to showcase employment and career opportunities to students and persons interested in either finding employment or making a career change. 
 
This year’s Career, Education, Training and Job Expo takes place on 13-14 February at the Sir Vassell Johnson Hall at the University of the Cayman Islands campus in Grand Cayman. For the second year, the Chamber is partnering with UCCI and its team of academic professionals to develop an event that serves to promote the numerous career, employment, training and educational opportunities that are available to Caymanians and residents. Many leading employers participate in the event not only to identify candidates to work in their businesses, but also to encourage students to pursue careers in their industry sector and to share the scholarship opportunities that are available for students who meet the requirements.
 
Some exhibitors offer workshops in resume writing, interviewing skills and work ethics. Some employers also conduct on site interviews. The Career, Education, Training and Job Expo allows for various interactions and is regarded as the leading event for employers seeking to identify current and future employees to join their businesses.
 
This year’s event will include two days of activities. On Friday, students from all public and private schools will be invited to meet with exhibitors. There will be special workshops held and information about different scholarships, educational and training opportunities will be available. Students will be able to ask exhibitors questions about career choices and can introduce themselves to some of the leading businesses operating in various industry sectors.
 
On Saturday, the public is invited to attend. Exhibitors will post job opportunities and will respond to questions about working in the various industry sectors. It will be the perfect opportunity for persons seeking employment or considering a career change to attend. Already many of Cayman’s leading employers are participating in the event. Since 2009 is expected to be a challenging year for most businesses, the Chamber’s Career, Education, Training and Job Expo will become an important event for showcasing opportunities that are available for job seekers, students and residents. All businesses, associations, statutory authorities and government departments are urged to participate.
