After extensive post-Ivan renovations, the Cayman Islands Public Library in George Town celebrated the re-opening of its doors on 13 May 2009 to hundreds of Chamber members and guests at a Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours.
 
New life was given to the national historic landmark which now provides the community with a  revitalized and modern upgraded facility that will surely stimulate learning and will serve as the beacon of knowledge and information for future generations.
 
The restored facility now boasts a new standing-seam roof, new shelving and new wheelchair ramp access. The multi-million dollar funding for this large-scale project was provided by donations from corporate and individual benefactors, most notably local law firm Maples and Calder.
