Mrs. Elizabeth Talbert was appointed the new deputy director in August. Mrs. Talbert is a demographer with over 25 years of experience, 16 years of which were with the Central Statistical Office of Belize. She served the latter as deputy chief statistician for six years where she coordinated household surveys and for their 1991 and 2000 censuses. Most recently, Mrs. Talbert served as a statistical consultant to the Government of Guyana on its Social Statistical and Policy Analysis Project, which was focused on enhancing statistical capacity at the line ministry level. Mrs. Talbert is expected to spearhead preparations for the Cayman Islands ’ 2010 population census.
