January 23, 2012 Advocacy has always played a vital role in the Chamber’s strategic agenda but none more so than last year as we saw the launch and development of the Future of Cayman economic development initiative. This was an opportunity to familiarise the public with the many offerings at the University College, as well as to give an update on recent developments. For more than 46 years, the Chamber of Commerce has been dedicated to promoting a positive business climate in Cayman and representing the best interests of the local commercial community. We all know that without a strong marketing presence your business can
suffer. That is why you will often hear that it should be the last thing

Earth Day Roadside Clean- Up is an annual Earth Day Chamber awareness event attracting hundreds of volunteers. Since 1997 the goal has been to educate members of the community about protecting and preserving the environment. 2011 Member sponsors outlined. April 20, 2011 Any event that directly benefits more than 600 students and several
hundred more people looking for employment or a change or career has got
to be worth doing. The Careers, Education, Training & Jobs Expo
held its 13th Expo this year on 4 February at the Family Life Centre.
There was a superb lineup of some of the best respected local
businesses, educational institutions and government departments. Business Expo
April 20, 2011 The Chamber’s Business Expo has been a staple for Cayman’s business
community for over 20 years. It is the one time a year that we can
really showcase just how far we have come as an economy. Commissioner of Police David Baines gave an informative presentation to
Chamber members on 26 January at the first BE INFORMED presentation of
the year. The Commissioner updated the group on crime statistics and the
strategies being implemented by the RCIPS in its fight against local
crime. The Chamber has always been a Champion of small business. Our Governors
Square location has allowed us to be more hands-on with this endeavour
and for the first time we are able to offer Business Pods for qualifying
start-up businesses. Approximately 2,000 people turned out to see what was on offer from the
Island Companies group of stores this Christmas. They were also treated
to some great deals from supporting businesses Butterfield and Digicel,
which had plenty of giveaways and specials of its own, including a new
ipad. There were a number of door prizes on offer too for Chamber
members, including a Charrioll Bracelet, TW Steel Watch and a$500
shopping spree. Renard Moxam and Island Companies CEO, Alexandre
Tabacoff presented cheques to the NCVO, Hospice Care, Lions Club and the

January 26, 2011 Talent and workforce development has never been more vital as we look to
adapt to a changing economic climate and the challenges to both
employers and employees. The Professional Development and Training Centre has a new purpose
built facility in Governors Square, as part of the new Chamber of
Commerce & Visitors Centre. The PD&TC has been providing members
with high quality and affordable training programmes since 1995 and
this year will offer over 75 courses as it keeps pace with the demand
for time efficient, first class training, with an emphasis on value for

January 26, 2011 James was born and raised in New York. He is the second of 10 children.
He has a Bachelors and Master Degree in Accounting and Finance. On Thursday, 11 November, President Stuart Bostock launched the first
Future of Cayman Forum. Sixty men and women representing private
business associations, Government ministries, departments and statutory
authorities met to discuss the ... Wow, what a year for the Chamber! As we look back on 2010 we can be
proud of some significant achievements. We have moved to new office
premises, we have expanded the Professional Development & Training
Centre and trained over 1,000 people, and we have launched the
Leadership Cayman programme, the BE INFORMED series and the economic

companies, but what is it that makes a good leader? As we move along in a growing society it becomes more apparent each day
that women need to slow down for a minute to assess their current place
in the professional world. They need to understand their role in being
change agents for a better society where there is more equality. The Chamber is a driving force behind the call for a National Crime Prevention Strategy and has representation on the Government’s CCTV Task Force, the Crime Prevention Group and CrimeStoppers. Green, Friendly, Conscious, Footprints, Eco, Environ-mental, Global Warming. These are all words that have become part of our ‘fashionista’ lifestyles. In 2006 the Chamber commissioned an Economic Crime Survey titled Combating Economic Crime (available in the reports and publications section of the Chamber website). The world is ever changing and with the focus on technology we must
remember that in an environment filled with emails, podcasts, social
networking and automated responses... The Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce enters its 45th year of service
in 2010 with a new board. During the Annual General Meeting held on... In 2009, working in partnership with the membership, community groups
and associations the Chamber: 2009 has been a tough year for most and a time for reflection and
cooperation. It brought new challenges to us all but hopefully the kinds
that make us stronger and more resilient. From its inception in 2002, Mentoring Cayman has evolved into one of
the Islands most promising youth programmes. Each year, top achieving
Year 11 high school students from both the public and private sector
are invited to participate in the programme and then carefully matched
with executive level mentors. International trade missions are an important membership benefit and a
key strategic and economic development focus for the Chamber of
Commerce. In September 2008, the Council and staff took part in a strategic
planning session, the first ever for the organisation. The Strategic
Plan identifies areas of importance to be focused on through
programmes, events, advocacy and other initiatives in the next one to
three years
