Wines of the month

Rustenberg ‘Peter Barlow’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 – Stellenbosch, South Africa
This historic property has been farming wine grapes since 1682 and the Peter Barlow label is 100% single vineyard Cabernet.  This wine is bold, with layers of intense flavor, a core of dark fruits and a distinct earthiness. Decant before serving.

Terrazas de los Andes “Afincado” Malbec “Las Compuertas” 2005 – Mendoza, Argentina
This wine simply rocks and is Malbec at its best.  The grapes are sourced from 76 year-old vines in the high-altitude Vistalba sub-region of Mendoza.  These old-vines deliver great concentration and complexity of flavors as well as incredible ripeness and purity of fruit.  A true crowd pleaser.

Paul Jaboulet Aine “Les Jalets” 2005 - Crozes Hermitage, France
Since the mid 1800s the Jaboulet family has produced consistently successful wines from all over the Rhone Valley.  This wine is 100 per cent Syrah from the small region of Crozes Hermitage and showcases its’ terroir skillfully.  It has the flavours and aromatics to pair with braised or grilled red meats, but the elegance and freshness to match with fresh tuna as well.
