End-of-year target for new Labour Law

Mr. Mario Ebanks The new Labor director on this week announced governmentt's intention to overhaul the labor law. Is he really serious or is this a hoodwink coming from the highest level?
Mr. Ebanks himself may not function to our satisfaction as he has been a shareholder in a human resource consultancy firm in the Cayman business community . Premier Solutions Group boasts that it is a fully integrated suite of services encompassing human resource management and legal solutions.
The website states that they offers local Companies and individuals who they say can look to this group for assistance from labor, to immigration matters, including business staffing plans, key employee to permanent resident applications, and all matters concerning compliance with the labour and immigration laws.
My serious concern is, can the new Labor Director really be effective in solving the joblessness of our Caymanian people and furthermore how can he help put a dent into the work permit abuse if his company is driven by revenue from offering work placement and immigration legal services including key employee, permanent resident applications etc.
We seem to always find ourselves talking to Ceasar about Ceasar?
This is a great conflict of interest, however I believe if he is still affiliated with the group in question, that Mr. Mario Ebanks has in the past proven to be a man of Integrity throughout the years and we will expect him to continue down that road and to use his discretion and conscience as he makes decisions to safeguard the employment opportunity for the Caymanian people.

More of the same, It's easier to beg forgiveness than ask for permission.

Nothing will ever come of this major infraction on the use of public funds on private businesses, well except for a bunch of future votes. So don't waste anymore time and money pursuing it.

At this point I feel for any business that got left out of this generous spreading of black goo. And I wonder if there is a political correlation with the leftouters?

If there were a Tim Horton's here in Cayman, all the Canadians would come out of the woodwork and cause traffic mayhem at the drive-thru...!

I strongly believe if you could get a Tim Horton's (Canada) and a Starbucks (USA) franchises under one roof you would have a stellar hit. Both nations sorely miss their home brands.

The only great coffee on the island for me is at the Westin Resort Cafe.

If someone knows where to get a Cuban Cafe con Leeche, please point me in the right direction.

HELP! My bank is demanding I pay my debts! How dare they! Granted I did borrow the money. And, yes, I have horrible credit. How can they demand their money knowing things have been tough for me? Don't they know I already spent it and it would be really hard on me to pay it back?

Sound stupid? Welcome to Greece who has, in their history, defaulted on their debt five times. Where 1 in 4 work for the idiot government. When reigning political parties promise their largest voting base ( gov't employees ) they can retire at 50 with full pensions. The proverbial can can only be kicked so far....

and the people with the shiny new driveways and congregation of the church will now be voting for.....

Editor's note: For clarity's sake, the auditor general's review found no driveways had been paved, only private business parking lots and one church lot.

This argument came up before and from what I remember their explanation was that they paved some private driveways to bring it up to the height of the newly paved road in lieu of leaving the owners in a flood prone situation with thier driveways being lower than the street this would cause all the runoff to go on to their driveways.

I would think that if any neighborhood on Grand Cayman was paved and the road was now higher the people driveways they would feel it was the CIGs responsibility to insure that their project doesn't cause peoples driveways to flood.

Question, does anyone know if the roads were over paved or ripped up and repaved to the same level. If so this would make that argument invalid.
