Preparing for the season at Grand Harbour
TOPIC: Shopping
Nov 3, 2009
The festive season is almost upon us, and it seems that all the Island is getting ready for Christmas. Few places is this more apparent than at the Shoppes at Grand Harbour. Every year at this time the whole shopping plaza gets into the spirit, with Christmas specials and Christmas cheer. The peak of the festivities is reached with the Annual Christmas Craft Sale, sponsored by What’s Hot. This year the Grand Harbour community is getting ready for its biggest family orientated event yet with the addition of It's Your Party at Grand Harbour. It's Your Party is a leader in family party supplies, including several different blow-up jumping castles and slides. “This is a great afternoon because there is so much to do for the whole family,” says event organiser Douglas Cameron. “We were lucky to pick up this annual event from its creator Lorraine Bell and keep the tradition alive.” The kid’s play area is always a hit and this year will feature a toddler section, too. Cotton candy, snow cones and lots of room to play will keep the kids busy all day. From sunset the big screen will be on showing Christmas cartoons until 9pm. The craft sale will feature some of the island’s best local crafts including handmade jewellery, lots of different arts, speciality jams and hot sauces, clothing, boats and of course woven hats. The stores at Grand Harbour will all be running specials and sidewalk displays so be sure to have a look around. The Game Shack will be putting on game demos to educate people about this great pastime which is also fun for the whole family. Blockbuster will have some great deals and specials and of course Hurley’s will be hopping too. The Brick House will have a patio barbecue and will also play host to local talent on the main stage in front of the wave pool. The craft sale will feature live music from 2pm all the way through to 11pm. Local schools will set the mood early on, playing Christmas carols, followed by a couple of live bands in the early evening and finishing with Saturday Light Fever Disco Jams. For those seeking an extra bit of action, the Black Pearl surf team will hold a surf show at 7.30pm, but the wave pool will be open all day, with an eight hour session for $80 or $20 half hour sessions all day. With something for everyone, don't miss out on the Grand Harbour Craft Market on 12 December. WH
