Cayman Cookout Commences

Apart from the headline acts, Cayman Culinary Month features a number of other events well worth a look.

On 10 January, Camana Bay plays host to the Taste of Cayman Barefoot Brunch.

The theme for the event is ‘BBQ, Bubbles and Boats’ and is the first Camana Bay event centred around people arriving by boat.

The event, which runs from 11am to 3pm, will feature a menu with Caribbean-inspired dishes including whole roasted pig with crackling and mojo onions, Guinness glazed ribs, fish and fritters, tropical salads, and a desert station.

Tickets are $100 per person, with tickets for children from 12 to 18 available at $25 and children under 12 entering free. Boat slips are available for reservation with a required $100 donation to The Lighthouse School, and can be reserved by emailing erinbodden@cita.ky.

Ferdinand’s at the Westin Casuarina hosts a wine dinner entitled ‘Well-travelled Bubbles and Whites’ on 29 January.

The evening kicks off with cocktails at 7pm, with dinner starting at 7.30pm. Each of the courses is accompanied by a wine, from the hors d’oeuvres through to the dessert. With too many highlights to mention, the dinner includes a truffle-infused duck consommé with foie gras pearls, crisp snapper with firepot sauce and Asian vegetable julienne and roasted veal saddle with forest mushrooms and thyme cream. And then of course there is the dessert.

Tickets are CI$135 per person including a 15 per cent service charge. For reservations, call 945-3800 extension 6007 or email f&bdirector@westin-cayman.com.
