People can be notoriously fickle when it comes to choosing a nightclub or party spot. What’s hot today can be oh-so-yesterday by the end of the week. So, for any club to stick around for more than a decade is quite something.
In spite of hanging around long enough to qualify for residency, the Attic remains one of the more popular spots for a night out. Part of its appeal lies in the casual and active atmosphere, with more than enough to keep regulars and newcomers entertained. With six pool tables, dart boards and custom beer pong tables, those with an active streak can get their sports fix. Those who would rather view their sport than take part in it are served as well, with seven televisions showing every sport you can imagine.
According to Mike Chambers, manager of the Attic, it is tough to pin down what defines the venue.
“I think it is all the options of activities and available sporting content, in an air conditioned endowment with a great menu. There is just so much to choose from,”
he says.
With choice being the operative term, it is no wonder that the Attic draws a very varied crowd. Of course the diehard pool players, darts players and sports nuts gather at the Attic. However, add in the Wii gaming system and custom beer pong tables and the venue also draws the college crowd.
The selection of music reflects the range of customers, with music choices including indie rock, classic rock, top 40 and even the occasional oldie thrown in for good measure.
The Attic has a loyal following and draws a crowd seven days a week, according to Mike.
“With specials like a burger and fries with a beer for ten bucks, it’s no wonder,” he says.
Wednesday nights are big and as the home of the Wednesday Night Drinking Club the Attic has seen its fair share of crazy hump day nights.
Sundays are also a good day at the Attic, which hosts its interpretation of a brew fest, with lots of beer pong and fun and games for everyone. WH
