Who doesn’t want to be part of a world record, especially if it involves bikinis?
Whether you look good in a bikini or not, or even if you have to borrow one for the occasion, on Thursday 17 June, you can play a part in getting Cayman’s name in the Guinness Book of World Records as the Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association, with the assistance of sponsors including What’s Hot, aims to claim the world record for the world’s largest bikini parade. The bikini parade will take place at the Tiki Beach Bar on Seven Mile Public Beach, with registration from 5pm.
The attempt will be measured by the number of volunteers who participate with the intention of breaking the record, as required under the world record guidelines. The current record stands at 287 participants, but the swimming association hopes to do more than just beat the record; they want to shatter it.
The money raised through the attempt will be used to develop swimming in the Cayman Islands, from the development of swimming as a life skill for Cayman’s youth to the preparation of Cayman’s competitive swimmers for international events such as the CARIFTA, the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics.
The minimum donation for taking part in the event is $15, which will get participants a world record wrist band, as well as a special world record cocktail created by Tortuga Rum. For a contribution of $50 you also receive an official Guinness World Record certificate. WH
