Cracked Conch and Macabuca
TOPIC: Dining & Entertainment

With the warm Caribbean Sea washing right up to its doorstep, it is not surprising that the Cracked Conch restaurant in West Bay specialises in seafood.

Although the restaurant offers indoor dining for those who so prefer, many guests prefer to spend their dinner seated on the outdoor deck. A dinner on the deck, which faces west, promises a perfect Cayman sunset every time. Even once the sun has set, diners can keep an eye out for night divers exploring the reef as their lights play on the surface of the water.

With a French chef who has been living in Cayman for many years, the menu boasts a unique selection of dishes, with the fusion of French style and Caribbean ingredients and inspiration creating an unequalled taste experience.

The freshest local ingredients are used whenever possible, and local favourites like conch feature prominently. From conch chowder to conch ceviche or the eponymous cracked conch, this local delicacy is to be found in many guises.

Shrimp, scallops, lobster, turtle and a large variety of fish grace the menu, but there are also non seafood choices, including prime beef tenderloin with pan seared foie gras, potatp fondant, mango compote and shallot jus, or the chef’s vegetarian selection of the day.

Downstairs of Cracked Conch you can find the Macabuca Tiki Bar and Grill, which offers a casual oceanfront experience with regular entertainment. Friday evenings feature live music, with a different live band every week. On Saturdays drop in for something a little spicy, with a salsa DJ starting at 9pm and free salsa lessons. Or make it an evening out, and have dinner at Cracked Conch followed by salsa at Macabuca.

On Mondays, drop in for the Caribbean barbecue special, with authentic jerk chicken the way it should be made.

To immerse your senses in the Cayman experience and get off the beaten path, a visit to Cracked Conch could be just the thing.
