One of the newest bars on Grand Cayman, Green Parrot is the first encounter many cruise ship tourists have with anything remotely Caymanian. It is therefore it is appropriate that the structure carries the name of Cayman’s national bird, a colourful and vocal character, much like its people.

The open air thatched bar is the perfect place for exhausted tourists to sit down and enjoy any of a wide variety of drinks. It also provides a great place for locals to kick back and relax after a hectic day at the office.

For most of those tourists, Green Parrot will also be their first encounter with the local beer, Caybrew.

With various Cayman Islands Brewery products on tap, including the new dark beer, Ironshore Bock, the bar is in the perfect position to introduce be their first chance to taste Cayman’s own beer. The Gold Member programme takes bar staff through the brewery to show them exactly how Caybrew is made, which in turn better enables them to explain to tourists and locals alike what makes a Caybrew well worth a try.

With many tourists already keen to try the local beer, the staff at Green Parrot are happy to oblige, with a little bit of extra knowledge about the beer going a long way to making sure Cayman and its brew make a great first impression.   WH

Beer Fact:
92% of brewing ingredients are wasted. Most of the waste is spent grain that still has lots of useful protein and fibre. At the Cayman Islands Brewery, spent grain is given to local farmers for cattle feed, as well being offered to people for compost – just another way to help protect our environment from waste.
