Main Story:
Exciting times for Cayman cycling

Thor Hushovd:
The reigning world champion, Hushovd is one of the best classics riders and sprinters in the world, having won the green jersey in the Tour de France in 2009.

In 2010 he was also second in the most famous of the one day classic races, Paris-Roubaix, known as the ‘Hell of the North’ for the cobbled roads it passes over in northern France.

David Millar
A top time trial rider, Millar had a dream end to his racing season in 2010, taking a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games time trial, as well as a silver in the World Championships time trial and a bronze in the Commonwealth Games road race.

Ryder Hesjedal
The revelation of this year’s Tour de France, Hesjedal finished in the top ten after having to step up to the plate when team leader Vande Velde crashed out. The Canadian made the most of his opportunity and has established himself as a serious contender.

Tyler Farrar:
As one of the top sprinters in the world, Farrar is one of the few cyclists who can challenge sprint phenom Mark Cavendish. He has proven himself as a man to watch in the sprints, and although crashes derailed his Tour de France sprint challenge this year, he is definitely one to watch.

Christian Vande Velde:
Vande Velde shot to prominence in 2008 when he finished fourth overall in the Tour de France. In 2009, in spite of fracturing a couple of vertebrae a couple of weeks before the Tour de France, he went on to not only compete in the race, but finish eighth overall while helping a team mate to fourth. He has also visited Cayman in the past, competing in the Cayman Invitational in 2008.
