Family friendly fun at the Brick House
TOPIC: Dining & Entertainment

At the Brick House the dining experience is not just about the food, it’s also about the atmosphere and ambience which restaurateur John Mack describes as “casual and family friendly.” For Taste of Cayman this is one of the aspects they hope to highlight to the public and also as a culinary experience the variety and diversity they offer on a menu that John says has a “little bit of something for everyone”.

For John, Taste of Cayman gives the Brick House a chance to showcase the restaurant to a wider audience. “I would like people to see the variety and diversity of what we produce at the Brick House and the attention we pay to detail.”

The family friendly features of the Brick House, for those who are not already in the know, is an aspect John hopes will come over at Taste of Cayman. For parents, dining can be an ordeal rather than a pleasure if they feel the children are being tolerated rather than openly welcomed, but that is certainly not the case at the Brick House where the environment is set up with families in mind.

They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner menus featuring a variety of foods.

Families can choose to dine either inside or outside and there are special play areas set up for children. In fact the children’s’ menu is not just a menu but also doubles as a colouring book so your child can be occupied if they feel like a bit of quiet time. Of course another attraction is that dad can also be kept amused as the 12 foot outdoor screen shows the latest sports!

Because the Brick House has such a nice environment John says they attract a lot of people from different nationalities and they reflect this by having a varied menu with finishing touches that make them that bit special which will appeal to people from lots of different cultures. “Our buttered curried chicken really appeals to people from the UK for instance,” John observes.

They pride themselves on using the best produce possible with fish and seafood being freshly caught locally as much as possible. Kids are not seen as an afterthought either in the way the menus are devised. They offer different types of kids’ menus, to satisfy both the children and parents. “We have a healthy choice menu for kids, which is a great hit with the parents,” says John. They also have more typical children’s fare such as chicken and French fries and yet another which consists of pizzas specially made for kids-sized appetites.
If they have a signature dish John says it is probably their pizzas. “We are known for our pizzas.” Made in the traditional fashion in a wood-fired brick oven, each pizza is hand made with a large choice of toppings.
For Taste of Cayman, the Brick House will be revealing a new sitting menu but people can also expect changes in the pizza line too. “We will also be introducing a new selection of pizzas,” John says, including a brand new gourmet topping containing Caribbean lobster.

John looks forward to Taste of Cayman which he thinks is important “because it brings all the restaurants together and shows the diversity there is in restaurants in Cayman and also how committed the restaurants are to turning out a good product.”
