When you live on an Island surrounded by crystal clear tropical waters and powdery white beaches, spending time enjoying sun, sea and sand is a given.

For those who spend a lot of their time under water rather than on the sand, Divers Supply in West Shore Centre on West Bay Road needs no introduction. However, even if the diving bug has not bitten yet, the store has a range of gear for the rest of us as well.

From girls to boys, teens to adults, the store has a huge selection of swimwear in all shapes and sizes, from toddler to plus sizes for those seeking a little more coverage.

You can plan your beach outfit from head to toe, with hats, sunglasses by Oakley, Costa Del Mar and Arnette, swimwear and sandals.

The swimwear range is enough to make your head spin, with brand names like VIX, Vitamin A, Trina Turk and ABS by Charles Schwartz, Jantzen, Perry Ellis, Anne Cole, Kenneth Cole and Guess. There are Nautica and Tommy Hilfiger suits for those who like to spend time on the boat, or cutting edge gear from Ed Hardy, O’Neill, Rampage, Hobie JAG, Body Glove and Reef for the younger set. Even more competitive swimmers are catered for you suits by Speedo.

For those looking for something for a night out on the town, the store carries short and long dresses by the likes of Elan and O’Neill, and even O’Neill jeans for a more casual evening..

There are even water toys for children, including skim boards, floats and floatable swimwear for babies.
Once you venture off the beach and into the water, the store has everything you could need, from entry level snorkelling equipment for visitors who might only be here for a week but do not want to rent equipment, to top of the line dive equipment for those who are passionate about their sport.

With diving gear from Scuba Pro, Cressi, Mares, Oceanic, Atomic Aquatics, Aqualung, there is a wide selection of in stock items.

“We carry all of the major brands, so the people that are coming in are able to actually see and handle products from all of the major brands in order to be able to compare and make their choices,” says Adam Gibbons of Divers Supply.

“We don’t just supply the gear, we support it,” says Adam. “If there’s a problem, we’ve probably seen it before.”

The store also services dive equipment and due to the extensive experience of the staff, customers can expect quick, quality service.

“We see a huge volume of repairs, so the experience level of the technicians is very high. My busiest month of repair personally I did 55 regulators fully serviced in one month. Many of the tourists who come here have their regulators done at home, where the dive shops maybe see that number in six months,” says Adam.

Divers Supply is also an authorised service centre for Suunto dive computers – one of only three in the western hemisphere.

One of the most eagerly anticipated pieces of equipment in the store is the new Atomic Aquatics Cobalt dive computer, which boasts a bright organic LED display combined with an intuitive menus-based interface and loads of advanced features. Christmas may have come and gone, but if your New Year’s resolutions include diving more, this might be a great time to treat yourself to something special.   WH
