Built out over the craggy ironshore,
with patios at various levels, the Cracked Conch has one of the most striking
waterfront positions in Cayman. In terms of wedding venues, it means you can
have the sunset, the sea in the background, the gentle ocean breezes – and not
a grain of sand to contend with.
But as Emma Pyne, Assistant Manager and
Events Coordinator explains, it is not just the lack of sand that makes the
Cracked Conch a popular place to celebrate a wedding, it’s the level of
versatility that the restaurant and the adjoining bar at Macabuca offer for
anyone planning a party.
Whether it’s a party of 30 or 300,
barbecued burgers or beef tenderloin, tables under the stars or an
air-conditioned private room, at the Cracked Conch you can mix and match
options to create a celebration to suit your vision and budget. From the
ceremony to the menus, the music to the dancing, you can take advantage of the
variety of spaces the venue offers to make it a day that represents you and
your preferences.
The open deck, is the most popular setting
for ceremonies and can seat up to 100 guests. It can then be reset for a dinner
al fresco, or turned into an oceanside dance floor.
The covered patio area is equally
versatile with space for 120 to be seated under cover while enjoying panoramic
sea views. Although usually used for receptions, this area has also been the
used for ceremonies. For smaller parties, sliding doors can be pulled across to
create a separate room for around 40, which can also be air conditioned.
Between the fine dining elegance of the
Cracked Conch and the laid back, casual atmosphere of Macabuca, every level of
sophistication can be accommodated. Large parties wanting to buy out the entire
restaurant can do so, and can feed 120 or more of their closest friends a three
course dinner that includes lobster and beef tenderloin, amid exotic flower
arrangements and extravagant centre pieces.
It is also possible to reserve just a
part of the open terrace, or choose to use the bar area. Buffet style food,
canapés or even a simple Caribbean barbecue can be arranged instead of the more
formal dinner. Decorations can be kept down to a simple conch shell filled with
bougainvillea and crisp, white table cloths. For those who don’t want to go to
the trouble and expense of hiring a band, they can take advantage of Macabuca’s
scheduled live entertainment. A band plays regularly on Fridays and a DJ on
Saturdays so wedding parties are always welcome to join Macabuca customers to
dance the night away.
They also have a pastry chef on hand to
create beautiful multi-tiered wedding cakes and a photographer on staff to
capture that special day on camera. WH
