Every dog has its day, and 18 June might just be that day for many of Cayman’s animals as Petapalooza returns to Grand Harbour.

The festival of music and entertainment benefits the Cayman Islands Humane Society, and has been extended to stretch over two days this year. Festivities will kick off on Friday 17 June with the Petapalooza Bingo Night.

The event will take place at the Brick House and start at 7pm, featuring loads of prizes including airline tickets, vouchers from local businesses, as well as signed Iggy Pop memorabilia and much more. There will also be Brick House food and drink specials, and entry is only $10, which gives you two grand prize tickets. Additional tickets will be available for $5, with all other game tickets available for $1 per game. All the bingo proceeds will go directly to the Humane Society.

The main course will take place on Saturday 18 June when the Petapalooza Music Festival takes over Grand Harbour. The festival will feature live local music and DJs all day from 2pm to midnight, and with a line-up featuring the likes of Suckerbox, Core, Suite Elite, Vanguard, Jeff Alban and Carlos and Elizabeth to name but a few, it will be a day to remember for music fans. Best of all, admission to the event is free.

There will be a children’s playground and a shaded one hour supervised paycare for parents who want to enjoy a bit of down time, with all proceeds going to the Humane Society.

As the event is being put on to benefit the animals of the Humane Society, dogs are more than welcome, and there will even be a prize for the dog voted to be the best rock star, so dressing up is encouraged.

According to organiser Reno Ciantar, the event has raised $43,000 since its inception in 2007, and the aim is to break all records this year and raise $25,000.

The event is also aimed at raising awareness of the Humane Society’s spay and neuter campaign, awareness, as well as showcasing pets up for adoption from the society and just encouraging pet owners to have a fun day out with their pets.

The event is dedicated in memory of Sean Harrell, as it has been since its inception
in 2007.
